Trips
Over the years, Simsalabim has organized several trips abroad to textile events.
| 2005 | Trip to Châtillon-sur-Seine (France) to visit the exhibition Exposition de Broderies et d'Ouvrages. 40 merry ladies and 1 gentleman went by bus to France and had a lovely time at the exhibition, where there were several stalls with needlework items and material. |
| 2006 | A more ambitious trip lasting 3 days. The bus would have taken us to several museums in Grenoble and Lyon, and we would also have visited a silkworm farm in Saillans (France). |
| 2007 | Trip to the International Lace and Needlework Forum in Rimini (Italy). 11 brave lacemakers and embroiderers took the train to Rimini and spent an unforgettable week-end among lace and needlework. It was fabulous! |
| 2008 | This trip would have taken us by bus to the Alsace-region in France, for two days. We would have visited a weaving studio and its boutique, and the famous Textile printing museum in Mulhouse (for the gentlemen the Train or Automobile Museum). We would have had time to have lunch in a medieval 'auberge' and admire Colmar by night. |
| 2009 | Trip to the International Lace and Needlework Forum in Parma (Italy). The town was wonderful, the weather was fantastic, the food was delicious and the Forum was as popular as ever. I participated in a needlelace course, Aemilia Ars, which was very interesting. |
Since quite a few associations and private persons now organise trips to textile events, I have chosen to give up that part of my activities at Simsalabim. Organising a trip for many people takes a lot of time and energy, and it draws me away from my own projects and creative work. So I thank all the ladies who have travelled with me over the years and wish them all the best in their next textile trips.
